WV GOLDENROD BLOOMING ~ "Our Herbal Gold"

9/18/2022

In West Virginia, our goldenrod is blooming usually from September 1st through early October across rural mountain lands, and it is one of our most cherished early Fall Medicinals and Wildflowers! 🌾

Each Fall season, our Goldenrod lights up our meadows and fields with a refreshing blend of ruggedness and jubilation. In addition to the bright yellow sunshine it lends to the landscape and flowers attract native pollinators (especially OUR HONEYBEES) and other pollinators and beneficial insects. 🐝

Providing much nectar and pollen for honeybees at a critical time of year; their final opportunity to acquire their winter hive supplies.

Goldenrod’s piney-tasting leaves and flowers are also an important medicinal remedy for our urinary, digestive, and respiratory systems.  🌾

When harvested later in October, our "Earthway Primitives" Fall HONEY 🍯 will encompass all the dark golden robust flavor and health properties from our goldenrod meadows and beyond.

The goldenrod genus encompasses one hundred species of late-blooming, knee-or hip-high herbaceous perennials. 🌾

Happenings in the Beeyard - 2014 Update

Well we survived the Winter of 2013/2014 but unfortunately are Honey bees did not fair quite as well. We lost a few hives and the remaining hives numbers were low but the great news is they are recovering beautifully.  We have been trying to update our website, but with spring cleanup and trying to get the girls and some boys on their way again to building their family and producing Honey bee products. It’s hard to find the time. Our Spring weather  right now is a bit on the wet and cool side. The Spring flowering trees and plants are beginning to bloom, but when it gets cold and rainy the girls are not real crazy about going out into it. Who would be. But when the sun comes out and it reaches about 45 degrees, wow are the girls busy. Well that’s about it for now, keep checking our web site for updates.

Merry Christmas to all of our blog followers. We had a fairly decent Summer of raising our bees and they produced average amounts of Honey this year. We are going to try to devote more time to our website and blogs this coming year. We hope to add more honey products, equipment and more general store merchandise. We would like to thank all of our customers and followers for their devoted patronage and wish them and everyone in our fair Nation a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Welcome to Earthway Primitives Apiary (EPA)
After a very unusual winter here in WV our Girls & Boys are building up very nicely. We have made three splits and purchased two packages which brings our total hive count to ten. This weekend we are setting up at our local Master Gardeners Spring Clinic here in North Central WV. We will have our observation hive set up and sell our wildflower honey and Cindy's locally famous soaps & lip balm. Stay tuned for pictures.
Thats all for now.
